INDEPENDENCE DAY ("The 4th of July")

Independence Day is celebrated in the United States of America on July 4th every year. This is why the holiday is also referred to as "The Fourth of July." This holiday celebrates the USA's independence from Great Britain. Although the USA did not force the British to fully retreat until after the War of 1812, US Americans celebrate the day that the people of the British colonies that became the USA declared their independence & renounced their status as colonialists.

Fostering whole child development involves incorporating kinesthetics, rhythm, musical intelligence, & crea-tive expression through performing arts into daily lives

Arts & Crafts

Genre: Comedy (especially for ages 7-12 years old)

The spunky heroine of Megan McDonald's books is looking forward to a "thrilladelic" summer with her best friends when she suddenly finds herself facing a lonely holiday with only her younger brother Stink for company. Enter wacky Aunt Opal, dead set on making this the best summer ever for her young charge. But will moody Judy let her…? Those not familiar with the flame haired and fiery-tempered Judy won’t be too out of step with this, it’s pretty universal stuff: irritating younger siblings, the fear of dull holidays and the joy of a batty relative intent on cheering you up.

Get Out & Play - Badminton

Badminton is a racket sport played on a rectangular court divided by a net. Players score points by striking a shuttlecock (also called a "birdie" with their racket so that it passes over the net and lands in their opponents’ half of the court. It involves running, jumping, and quick movements, which strengthen the heart and keep kids fit. It also requires fast reactions and precise shots, which improves coordination between the hand and the eye. Badminton is a great way to keep kids active, have fun, and learn a new skill.

Social-Emotional Development

Social & emotional development, especially in early childhood, provides a critically important foundation for children in developing & learning throughout their lives.  
     Social development refers to the ability to initiate, create, foster, & sustain meaningful relationships with adults & peers.
     Emotional development refers to the ability to express, recognize, interpret, & manage one's emotions and the ability to respond appropriately to others' emotions.
